An Outing To Remember

It has been a week late to post this but as they say better late than never :) .

September 16 and 17 this year has been the important days in SSPL and the memorable ones too. The reasons could differ among my colleagues but one reason that everyone’s gonna agree with is ‘The celebration of Suvidha Sewa Pvt. Ltd. Anniversary’. Yes, we celebrated the 8th anniversary of SSPL on our outing to Lakure Bhanjyang.

Remembering back, it was really a tough time selecting a destination for outing. With the festivals coming up and other reasons like our colleagues’ examination and blah blah, it had been a challenge for some of us who were into this so called “planning” of the outing. Finally, a destination was selected and approved by all. It was Lakure Bhanjyang. Not so far away from our office- where we started our journey from; but the experience that we had was not any lesser than what we could have experienced if we had gone for a long journey.

Anyways, it was September 16, Friday. Not a usual Friday for everyone for the obvious reasons. I still remember how everyone was eager to finish off their work and prepare for the outing (there was lots to be done believe me!).  Nevertheless, even this day didn’t prove to be any less of a work to our Recruiting team, Finance team and HR team.  My sincere admiration to these departments. What needs to be done needs to be done, ain’t it???

We were around 21 of us who were going for the outing. Not a big group but not a small one either. Then the time of departure for some of our colleagues finally came. Since, they were the ones who opted for hiking rather than taking a bus, they chose to go early. They left the office premises at around 2 pm. The remaining of us who chose to take a bus had to be in the office for another few hours because the bus that we’ve booked didn’t arrive until 6 pm. We had whole lot of tasks to do to fill that time. (Now you wouldn’t think we were too lazy for hiking, would you? :D )

Although all the outing was planned perfectly, one thing what we didn’t care enough or say wasn’t in the priority list was to prepare a to-do list once we reach there; sort of team building activities. It has always been a tradition in SSPL to organize an award ceremony where an award (for in this event we chose gifts) was given to a person. So, we got busy preparing for this award and buying gifts. Oh, it was such a fun coming up with different opinions about how to conduct the event. Finally we settled for giving out the forms to all the members of SSPL and choosing the adjectives that best defines a person. So, the person is awarded with the adjective title he gets the maximum votes on.

It was 6pm and time to leave. Everyone got into the bus in a hurry because we all wanted to get to Lakure Bhanjyang quick. This is all because our colleagues who went on a hiking had already reached there and had informed us that the place was amazing. Come quick!

Due to various reasons, we finally departed at around 7 pm. And oh! the traffic jams that we had to encounter at Sanepa and somewhere around Satdobato! Arghh… The little game of antakshari in the bus was such a relief during these jams and the ride with same old passé songs that people remember only during antakshari. You know the songs right??? त्यै क्या त पुरना नेपाली गीतहरु…:P

It was a smooth journey from Lubhu onwards. Every turning in the hills proved to provide a spectacular view of the valley. During the dark hours that we were travelling, the lights in the valley were like group of stars, an image of a milky way. Breathtaking, Dazzling…

CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

REQUIREMENTS: Chartered Accountant with 14 to 18 years of relevant experience in Nepal.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Financial Analysis: Perform financial analysis of company’s current financial health with development, financing and re-financing of projects, effective and efficient use of fund. Spot cost control opportunities and cycle time reduction to arrange finances. Provide monthly MIS report on financial & operating statement to review company’s financial status. Advise promoters & directors on financial matters under Income Tax laws, suggest best practices and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements. Co-ordinate the preparation of financial statements/financial reports & examine cash flows, cost control and expenses to guide business development group. Conduct comprehensive analysis of potential JV, MoU & PPA’s. Evaluate new projects and quantify risk / return, prioritize the funding of projects, predict short range & long range capital requirement to maintain fund at optimal level & map optimal investment strategy.

Auditing: Plan and carry out company’s internal audits & deal with external auditors. Analyse financial statements & rectify potential weakness.

Budgeting: Work closely with other departments in meeting their budgetary restriction & ensure revenue flow through different projects & GEB.

Financial Operations: Establish relations with banks and other lending institutions. Present company to media, government agencies and funding agencies. Plan for controlling financial operations, arrange working capital, perform profit adjustment, ensure management of statutory requirement for companies Act / Secretarial function, Income tax act and other legal formalities. Set down standard policies & procedures to govern accounting department, supervise accounting duties, etc.

HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGER

REQUIREMENTS: MBA specializing in HR Management with over 4 years of related experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Recruitment: Coordinate manpower planning, recruitment, induction, exit interview & ensure cultural fit. Handle payroll system & compensation administration. Manage activities related to compensation management, payroll processing & attendance.

Policies & Procedures: Define plans, polices & strategies for greater operational effectiveness & manpower deployment. Develop, update & implement compensation plans, reward and recognition schemes & HR policies & communicate them across the organization at all levels. Maintain employee master data, counseling/ grievance handling of the employees. Facilitate Employee Satisfaction/ HR survey & community development activities.

Performance Appraisal: Handle Performance Management System. Initiate rewards/recognition programmes. Manage welfare activities.

Training and Development: Identify training needs and preparation of training modules calendar, schedule & batches for imparting training in various topic. Conduct behavioral & technical trainings.
Organize training programmes based on need analysis.

Administration: Develop & execute daily operational & administrative tasks. Handle industrial relations.

System Consultant

Responsibilities:

As a System Consultant (SC) of a dynamic consulting team, this role supports the sales team by providing technical business-consulting advice at senior levels to both internal and external customers.
The SC needs to take care of the following responsibilities:

•Analyze prospective customers enterprise requirements and present a suitable solution(s) in order to meet customer requirements
•Provide design for complex hardware and software solutions and/or modifies/maintains complex existing applications
•Assist the sales team to identify and close advanced Enterprise specific sales opportunities while also developing and maintaining a relationship with the customer’s network/server related technical/IS staff and decision makers.

Requirements:

•10+ Years Enterprise Solution experience preferred (Servers, Storage and Solutions)
•One or more Industry accreditations, MCSE, CNE, CCNA, HP ASE, IBM PSE, Vmware, EMC etc..
•Hardware Vendor or Channel Partner experience
•Proven track record in consulting to business and building business solutions
•Previous experience in a Consulting capacity, with sales/incentive quota
•Ability to analyze the customer’s server/storage management facilities and be able to propose a compelling argument for Server/storage consolidation thru an ROI model
•Ability to work under pressure and according to deadlines
•Ability to travel internationally for training (1-2 weeks pa)
•Ability to communicate with all levels in an organization
•Demonstrable skills that cover the 3 key elements of a Consultant, being: Sales-ability, Business Acumen and Technical Ability

Business Development

Responsibilities:
As a Business Development (BD) of a dynamic consulting team, this role supports the sales team by executing direct and/or distributor activities to meet company’s revenue and growth targets.

The BD needs to take care of the following responsibilities :
•Manage and grow company business in Nepal.
•Generate demand for company’s products in Nepal through customer meetings, distributor engagements, marketing activities
•Correctly position company’s products/solutions to meet customer requirements
•Work closely with customers and/or distributors to ensure deal closures
•Regular interactions with key customers.
•Plan for growth considering factors like market conditions, competition, channel capacity

Requirements:
•Min. Bachelor’s Degree
•5 years sales and marketing experience in IT industry
•Sales or marketing experience in Nepal is preferred
